You know, I found this post a long time ago. Not all the way back when you first posted it, but... well, a significant enough time ago.

And I thought "Oh wow these are waaaay better I should replace mine" but I was feeling lazy... so it didn't happen until now. :|;

That's almost the same reason I made my own. I was too lazy to look at different comms for them, so I... just made my own. As little sense as that makes.
